Residential Advisor Full-Time
The Maine Educational Center for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing / Governor Baxter School for the Deaf is seeking to fill a full-time, second shift (Sunday through Thursday, 3:15 p.m. to 11:15 p.m. with flexibility), residential advisor position in the dormitory.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to ...

Provide direct supervision to students in the dormitory, applying age appropriate techniques to promote the development of positive behaviors and social skills, maintaining a secure environment at all times
*
Assist students in developing skills to positively address personal issues; maintain appropriate contact with parents as to their child's participation in the residential program
*
In coordination with other staff, plan and implement Independent Living Skills programs aligned with the Maine Learning Results
*
Participate in student-focused team meetings with parents, teacher, counselors, psychologists, case manages and other support services staff to plan integrated programs for residential students

Minimum Qualifications:
College level degree preferred
Minimum of two years of post secondary education
Fluency in American Sign Language required
Background in residential programs or psychology and adolescent behavior
Knowledge of and ability to apply student behavior management methods and techniques
Ability to establish effective relationships with students
Must have current driver's license with good driving record
Must meet the Department of Education fingerprinting requirements

Salary:

$1,040.80 - $1,278.40 Biweekly (Steps 1-6)
