The Maine Educational Center for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing / Governor Baxter School for the Deaf is seeking a highly motivated individual with strong administrative assistant skills. The person in this position will provide office and administrative support to the Director of Statewide Educational Services located on Mackworth Island in Falmouth, Maine. Major duties and responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

Acting as a liaison between parents, school districts, the community and the Director of Statewide Educational Services and staff |
* |
Updating and maintaining the department database |
* |
Coordinating sign language interpreter assignments and schedules |
* |
Coordinating American Sign Language for Families classes which involves registration, scheduling and creating announcements/flyers |
* |
Scheduling and taking minutes for meetings as needed |
* |
Handling incoming calls and mail |
* |
Maintaining and organizing files for the department director |
* |
Composing and preparing general correspondence |
* |
General clerical duties such as copying, faxing, bulk mailing and word processing |
Minimum Qualifications: |
High level of organizational and communication skills Must be knowledgeable in relational database management, spreadsheets, record keeping and composing and editing business correspondence Discretion and judgement in dispensing information is essential Ability to effectively plan and adjust work assignments to deal with planned and unexpected changes as well as independent decision making skills and initiative Willingness to learn American Sign Language is required |
Salary: |
$27,995 - $36,899 annually dependent upon qualifications and experience |
