Lots of activity on Mackworth Island today as we continue our cleanup from Tuesday’s storm.  Tree crews worked hard to open our roads and will return within the next few weeks to continue their work.

Our electrician arrived to start the process of reattaching wires that were ripped away from the building by a fallen tree.  Telecommunication crews transferred lines from the broken telephone pole on the causeway to the new pole installed by CMP Tuesday night.  There is still one more line that needs to be transferred by Time Warner Cable/Spectrum.  The first phase of testing and repairs to our fire alarm system were completed today.  Additional testing will be completed tomorrow and the system is expected to be fully operational by the end of the day.  The maintenance staff has been working hard to clear debris, set up safety barriers, and control traffic at the end of the causeway.  All this hard work made for some very hungry workers, so an impromptu cook out was in order!  We pulled out the grill, invited our vendors, and a well-deserved lunch on a beautiful day was had by all.  The Mackworth Island Trail will open tomorrow morning, Friday, July 13th at 9:00 AM but the school campus will still be closed for the day.  The campus will reopen on Monday, July 16th and summer school will reopen on Tuesday, July 17th.  We thank you for your continued support.
