We had a fun and exciting week in preschool, and we enjoyed learning about The Three Little Pigs! The children were very involved with this interactive and hands on story – and had a blast acting out the story in the dramatic play area. Today we enjoyed a special “piggy snack” after morning meeting! We enjoyed painting muddy pigs, building straw, stick and brick houses, and playing with pigs and the big bad wolf in soil at the sensory table. We practiced our AB patterning skills and counting in the math area, and graphed our favorite piggy house, during morning meeting. Developmental Centers was full of great playtime and learning fun!
Next week, we will continue our Fairytale Unit, as we introduce, Goldilocks and the Three Bears. Through this unit, we are fulfilling certain Maine Early Childhood Guidelines such as: 1. Understand that a book has a title, author, and illustrator. 2. Develop an awareness of word sounds and rhythms with language. 3. Incorporate some literacy activities into dramatic play. Our vocabulary this week is: Papa Bear, Mama Bear, Baby Bear, Goldilocks, rocking chair, bed, bowl, porridge, hot, cold, just right, small, medium, large/big, and happily ever after.
