March 13th Newsletter

Dear Parents,

Our students have been enjoying exploring the world of color again this week. We had a blast ordering ice cream during morning meeting. Our students were excited to choose their ice cream falvors, decided how many scoops they wanted and if they perfered their ice cream in a bowl or a cone!  Students were also responible for paying for their ice cream with coins. Another highlight from this week  was creating our own replica dogs from one of our favorite story books Dog’s Coloful Day. We used bingo markers, water color and paper dots. They came out beautifully!

Next week we will continue learning and experimenting with color, including

  1. Digging for hidden treasures at the sensory table
  2. In the dramatic play center, we will be having an ice cream shop
  3. Experimenting with mixing paint to see what color they make

We are so excited for our third week in this unit; it will be a fun one! Our new storybook next week includes revisiting one of our old favorites, Peter’s Chair, by Ezra Jack Keats. We will also be continuing to read Mouse Paint, by Ellen Stoll Walsh and The Lion and the Little Red Bird, by Elisa Kleven.

Happy Almost-Spring Parents,

I am sadly writing to inform you that my last day interning with the Mackworth Island Preschool in the Ocean Room, will be March 31st.  It has been a true honor to have taught your child over the last 12 weeks. It is incredible to see how much they have truly grown both personally and academically since my first week here in January.  I wanted to thank you again for allowing me to be apart of your children’s lives during my time here! It has been an unforgettable experience.
